It is just as much about the artwork as the words are sometimes mixed in with the pictures—interacting with each other. I remember having to memorize one of these poems in the third grade and recite it in front of the class.

But the visual makes this story fun and humorous! Without the visuals, this story would be scary for a child to read. In reality I think it is probably a healthy thing, but my childhood seems so much more innocent than I think it actually was.
